Tours

Q: Alexandria - I would love to go to Alexandria while attending the conference. Is there a tour or bus or shuttle that goes from D.C. to Alexandria?

A: Easiest way is probably the Metro. Starting at Dupont Circle, take the Red Line toward Glenmont. Change to the Yellow Line toward Huntington at Gallery Place, and then go to King Street station. Old Town Alexandria is a few blocks down King Street. -DSalo

Q: Georgetown - Is Georgetown a fun place to visit? Is it worth going to shop and eat?

A: Georgetown has some excellent restaurants, as well as many fine shops. Just about everything is on either Wisconsin Avenue or M Street. There isn't a Metrorail stop in the neighborhood, though, so getting there will require a bus, a cab, or either walking or taking a shuttle from the nearest Metro stops (Foggy Bottom and Dupont Circle). With two major universities in/near the neighborhood, it is a popular destination for the younger set. -Julian Clark

A: Old Town Alexandria is a great place to visit while you're in the D.C. Area. I would suggest taking the Metro Blue or Yellow line to King Street. From there, you can walk straight down King St. to the Potomac. There is a wide array of quaint shops, services, cafes, delis, etc. - something for everybody. Once you get to the end of King St. you'll find the Torpedo Factory which also has some great shops and exhibit areas with local artists. There is a great selection of high-quality restaurants near the Torpedo Factory as well, or else just stop in at Ben and Jerry's for a cone! - Amy Mackie
